Leadership

Welcome to our vibrant community of faith, where leadership in ministry is embodied by a diverse and dedicated group of individuals committed to guiding and nurturing our congregation. Our elders, with their wisdom and experience, provide invaluable support and counsel, ensuring that our church remains rooted in scripture and tradition.

Ministers serve as passionate shepherds, delivering heartfelt sermons and leading worship with grace, while evangelists inspire us to share the Good News far and wide, igniting a spirit of outreach and service. Together, these leaders embody a collaborative spirit, fostering an environment where growth, faith, and love flourish, and where every member is encouraged to discover and live out their God-given purpose.

Pastor's Biography

Pastor John Oluyole is a devoted follower and servant of Jesus Christ whose life reflects a deep commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God. A servant-leader, husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and mentor, he is passionate about making disciples, developing leaders, and helping people discover their God-given purpose.

He is joyfully married to Lady Evangelist Angela O. Oluyole and together they are blessed with three children and three grandchildren. A native Washingtonian, Pastor John proudly calls Washington, D.C. home. He attended Archbishop Carroll High School before pursuing higher education at Montgomery Community College in Takoma Park, Maryland. He later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Howard University.

Like many young adults, Pastor John's college years were marked by the pursuit of success, social life, and personal ambition rather than a relationship with Christ. Yet even while he was far from God, the Lord was pursuing him.

In December 1991, during his first visit to Nigeria, God interrupted the course of his life. While visiting the town of Ikoro, Ekiti, a man of God prophesied that he would one day be used mightily by God and become a great servant of the Gospel. That evening left an unforgettable impression on him. As the prophecy was spoken, his heart burned within him, and with his eyes closed, he saw a brilliant light. Though only nineteen years old and not yet fully surrendered to Christ, he would later recognize that this divine encounter was God's call upon his life.

God's plan continued to unfold in March 1994 when, shortly before graduating from Howard University, Pastor John met Ms. Angela Kerr, a member of Bethesda International Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Drawn to her beauty, they began talking regularly, and what started as a simple relationship led to something far greater.

Their first date included attending the Bethesda Bible School of Faith and Wisdom. Rather than simply accompanying his date, Pastor John found himself captivated by the teaching of the Word of God. His hunger for spiritual truth grew so rapidly that he enrolled in additional Bible classes while completing his university studies.

Under the faithful teaching and mentorship of Bishop Veronica Watson, Pastor John's life was transformed. On Easter Sunday in April 1994, he was personally baptized by Bishop Watson, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of discipleship and service.

For the next twenty-eight years, Pastor John faithfully served under Bishop Watson, embracing every opportunity to grow in character, leadership, and spiritual maturity. Like Joshua serving Moses, he learned through faithful service before public leadership. Throughout those years he ministered in numerous capacities, including Deacon, Minister, Elder, Intercessor, Sunday School Teacher, Church Accountant, Ministry of Helps servant, Funeral Officiant, President of the Men's Ministry, Overseer of Bethesda's Royal Social Events Committee, member of the Judah Choir, baptizing new believers, Bishop's Armor Bearer and driver, and many other assignments. Every role became part of God's preparation for his future calling.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pastor John's relationship with Bishop Watson became increasingly personal and intentional. Unknown to him at the time, she was preparing him to become her successor. Through countless conversations, mentorship, and spiritual impartation, God was positioning him to continue the work He had begun through her ministry.

On Sunday, October 23, 2022, Pastor John was appointed and elevated to the office of Assistant Pastor. Just four days later, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, Bishop Veronica Watson transitioned to be with the Lord. In the midst of grief, Pastor John stepped into the responsibility of leading the congregation, trusting God's grace to sustain both the church and him during this historic transition.

In July 2023, Pastor John was officially ordained as Pastor of Bethesda International Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the spiritual son and successor of Bishop Veronica Watson, he continues to honor her thirty-seven-year legacy while faithfully stewarding the vision God entrusted to the ministry.

Under Pastor John's leadership, the Lord has continued to provide fresh direction for the ministry. Through prayer and divine guidance, God revealed the church's new name—The Yeshua Nation—reflecting a renewed vision to reach all generations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has also led the development of governance structures, ministry systems, leadership development initiatives, and oversees discipleship pathways designed to position the church for long-term health, effectiveness, and Kingdom impact.

Pastor John firmly believes that ministry extends far beyond the walls of the church. His passion is to equip believers to become mature disciples of Jesus Christ who influence every sphere of society with biblical truth and the power of the Holy Spirit. He is especially committed to investing in the next generation of leaders, just as faithful spiritual mentors invested in him. His desire is to see men and women discover their gifts, fulfill God's calling upon their lives, and faithfully carry out the Great Commission.

Today, Pastor John serves as the Senior Pastor of The Yeshua Nation in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he continues to lead with humility, integrity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to the Word of God.

Fun Fact: When he's not serving in ministry, Pastor John is an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders. Whether discussing football, mentoring leaders, or preaching the Gospel, he enjoys connecting with people and encouraging them to pursue excellence in every area of life.
